Cherry & Orange Jelly Trifle


  • 200g fresh cherries, pitted, reserving a few whole with stalks to decorate

  • 2 x 11.5g sachets orange sugar free jelly crystals

  • 400g chilled low-fat custard

  • 600g fat-free natural fromage frais

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 level tbsp Kirsch or cherry liqueur

  • 2 level tbsp sweetener granules

  • Zest of 1 orange


Step 1

Put the cherries in the base of a medium, freezer-proof trifle dish and place in the freezer. Make up the jelly according to the pack instructions. Allow to cool then pour over the cherries.

Step 2

Cover and chill in the fridge for 4-5 hours, or until just set. Pour over the custard in an even layer

Step 3

Whisk together the fromage frais, vanilla extract, kirsch or cherry liqueur and sweetener until smooth. Spoon over the custard in another even layer.

Step 4

Scatter over the orange zest and decorate with the reserved cherries. Divide the trifle between 6 bowls.
